Best weapons for use against zombies When preparing to fight zombies there are a few basic fundamentals you will need to know before choosing your weapon. You will need to know approximately the number of zombies you are facing, and how much ammunition you will have available. Semi auto is good but even a bolt action is ok if you are in a fortified position. “One shot one kill” is the name of the game fighting zombies with a rifle. Any caliber will work ok as long as you can keep feeding it. A .22 long rifle will even work but you must be prepared for few shots to glance off of the skull and not penetrate. Just be ready with a follow up shot, just in case. A good scope will be an asset for your rifle in nearly every situation. -Handguns Get something you can shoot well, since once again you will be only interested in head shots. Any center fire handgun 9MM or larger should work well for you. Semi auto is really the way to go since it can be reloaded quickly in situations that call for it. -Shotguns Shotguns bring a mixed blessing to the fight. They have a lot of firepower and can push back a zombie that is getting too close. If you are using 00 buck, each shot will put out nine .33 caliber lead pellets capable of penetrating a zombie skull.
